Short description: |
The content presented in the class concerns human research on the basis of skeletal remains. Assessment of the needs of modern man in the context of sustainable development partly results from the biological basis, adaptation, and behavior that people have had in the past. Using laboratory methods, we are able to reconstruct this information and draw conclusions about human functioning in the environment in the past and today. For example, as part of the course, students learn how to reconstruct an ancestral diet, discuss what a "sustainable diet" is based on information about people who lived many hundreds of years ago. |

The student knows the methods used in the archaeological site and laboratory methods. Can list direct and indirect methods used in the context of research on ancient populations. The student knows and is able to perform simple laboratory activities on his own. The student is able to assess the age and sex of an individual on the basis of the skeleton and recognize pathologies. Can perform the known laboratory procedures. The student knows the principles of good laboratory practice. |
