(tylko po angielsku) The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the current approaches to study the nature of family functioning and the impact it has on the further development of a human. Various adaptive and maladaptive areas will be discussed such as the role of mutual communication, trust, and sense of security. |

(tylko po angielsku) Topics overview: 1. The role of the family in modern psychology 2. Systemic family approach: concepts, definitions, and examples. 3. Current issues related to parenting: perception of mother’s and father’s roles in the modern world, the division of roles in children’s perspective, the main challenges linked to parenting. 4. Cross-cultural differences in family communication. 5. Developing relationships within the family: the role of attachment. 6. Threats to the family system (addictions, unemployment, conflicts). 7. Family relations and their impact on children’s psychosocial development |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
(tylko po angielsku) Knowledge: Students know the major theories existing in family psychology. They are also familiar with the available measurement tools in this field. Abilities: Students can integrate the discussed content. They can distinguish between other approaches found in the literature and are able to link the theories to the research findings. Competence: Students have the competency to independently review the research material and to apply assessment methods into practice. ECTS description: In-class participation: 30 hours Class preparation: 25 hours Consultation: 10 hours Exam preparation: 25 hours Total hours: 90 ECTS points: 90 hours/30 = 3 |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) Assessment criteria includes: 1. Approx 20-min presentation on a chosen topic in family psychology, including critical evaluation of the material, followed by a group discussion. 2. Active in-class participation. |
