(tylko po angielsku) Identity is currently one of the most frequently studied topic of adolescents and youth development. The basic question that reflects what identity is about is “Who are you?”. The course focuses on different theoretical and research approaches to identity, its formation and factors that play a role in identity content, structure and functions. During the classes, different kinds of activity and teaching will be provided as lecture, discussion, interactive methods, presentation, workshops. |

(tylko po angielsku) The phenomenon of identity is currently one of the most frequently studied topic in psychology. Identity is an object of interest in the following fields: developmental psychology, personality psychology, social psychology and so on. What’s more, the notion of identity is more and more important in every-day life, i.e. the identity-related issues in terrorism phenomenon, globalization of present world, migration, freedom in choosing occupation, education and life commitments. The course focuses on importance of identity and its formation in nowadays social reality. The initial part of the lessons will be focused on practical workshops on identity experiences and image that have been gathered by participants during their lifespan. Next, different theoretical and research approaches to identity, its formation and factors that play a role in identity content, structure and functions will be presented. What’s more, during the course research tools regarding different theoretical approaches will be presented along with its usefulness critical analyses and empirical findings. Additionally, the aspects connected to methodology and research preparation will be presented. During the classes, different kinds of activity and teaching will be provided, as lecture, discussion, interactive methods, presentation, workshops. The literature will be based on both, classic works and the newest empirical and theoretical findings. The general curriculum is as follow: Part 1. Who you are? Introductory workshop. Part 2. The concepts of personal and social identity. Part 3. Different types of identity. Part 4. Factors that shape youth identity: structural and developmental perspectives. - personality - psycho-social: school, peers, media and family contexts of youth identity formation - socio-economic and political Part 5. Personal and social outcomes related to youth identity formation - psycho-social adjustment: educational and vocational contexts, well-being - behavioral outcomes: civic engagement, radicalization - symbolic outcomes: prejudice and stereotyping Part 6. Identifying resources for youth identity development. During the course elements from the SIDE Curriculum constructed during the realization of the INSIDE: Intensive Curriculum for Strong Identity in Diverse Europe will be used: inside.mruni.eu |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
(tylko po angielsku) After this unit the students will: - know different perspectives on identity formation, factors which facilitate identity formation and outcomes that result from identity formation; - understand different theoretical approaches on identity formation, factors which shape identity and a role of identity in human being life; - critically analyse and explain research findings on youth identity formation and identity-related constructs.
