Skrócony opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) Stefan Wyszyński was born on August 3, 1901 in the village of Zezula, Poland. He attended grammar school in Warsaw (1912-1914), and secondary school in the town of Łomża (1914-1917) and Włocławek (1917-1920). After his ordination Fr. Wyszyński celebrated his first Eucharist on August 5, 1924 in the Chapel of the Black Madonna at the Jasna Góra Sanctuary, the spiritual capital of Poland. From 1925 to 1929 he studied at the Catholic University of Lublin. On November 12, 1948 Wyszyński was appointed Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw – “the Primate of Poland,” and on January 12, 1953 he was created Cardinal. Card. Wyszyński was arrested by the communist regime and imprisoned from September 25, 1953 to October 28, 1956. John Paul II called him “the Primate of the Millennium” (Poland’s Millennium of Christianity and Indepedence: Baptism 966-1966). |
