Course content Introduction. Principles of human biological evolution (4 hours) Biology and behavior of primates (4 hours) The key stages of anthropogenesis (2 hours) Ecological and demographic characteristics as well as health and disease during the hunter-gatherer, early agriculture, early urbanization and industrial periods (4 hours) Peculiarities of physical and psychomotor development in childhood and adolescence (4 hours) Morphological, physiological and social aspects of ageing (4 hours). Principles of human adaptation and acclimatization. Ecological gradients (4 hours). Global diversity of human biological traits. Interpretations of the biological diversity of the modern human being (4 hours). |

Method of teaching • Problem-oriented lecturing, active learning methods (fulfilling assigned duties on literature search and writing short essays during semester), analytical methods iinformation search and analysis). Methods of knowledge verification • Evaluation of semester work (2 short essays on chosen topics) – 40 %; final on-line exam (more extended essay) – 60 %. |
