In this course students will be exposed to innovative museums and design focussed on the contribution of woman as museum´s founders and sponsers as well as female designers and artists who have made significant contributions to the development of visual culture design ranging from bold new aesthetic visions, various forms of public involvement and the use of innovative virtual realities using examples from a series of Museums including Museums in Sao Paulo (MASP - Lina Bo Bardi), New York (Guggenheim - Hilla von Rebay ;MOMA - Lillie P. Bliss, Mary Quinn Sullivan, and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller ), Venice (Guggenheim = Peggy Gugenheim), Tyrol (MMM-Corones – Zaha Hadid). Kanazawa (21st Century Museum - Kazuyo Sejima ) These lectures will be interspersed with practical guides on how to apply innovative design to small-scale and small budget venues and accompanied by students composing their own exhibition strategies. |
