  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the lectures is to discuss different perspectives of general pedagogy and to provide students with the most important concepts and principles regarding contemporary thinking and pedagogical activity; introducing them to the main research areas of general pedagogy, its problems and theories. The lecture material enables acquiring orientation on fundamental pedagogical issues, both theoretical and practical.

Full description:

During the lecture the following issues will be addressed:

1. Paideia - pedagogy;

2. The place of pedagogy in the system of modern sciences;

3. Anthropological, ontological and axiological sources of general pedagogy;

4. Basic educational environments;

5. Basic concepts and their relationships - education, teaching, formation,

etc.;

6. Subjectivity in upbringing;

7. Education in pedagogical concepts - a preventive system in modern upbringing;

8. Classification of pedagogical thought: currents, directions, concepts;

9. Pedagogical personalism;

10. General pedagogy and post-pedagogy and subpedagogy;

11. School and educational system;

12. Teacher: rights, duties, competences;

13. Addictions and youth subcultures;

14. Career guidance;

15. Cooperation with teachers and the community;

16. Providing support and assistance to pupils.

Knowledge:

EK 1 - The student knows the elementary knowledge used in pedagogy, knows and understands the educational system, educational law, functions of the school, presence of students with disabilities

EK 2 - knows and understands the role of a teacher, rights, duties and tasks

EK 3 - knows and understands the principles of the care and educational work of the teacher, classroom management, the problem of integration and inclusion, disorders, migration problems, the problem of aggression, psychoactive substances, subcultures

Ek 4 - knows the issues of vocational counselling

Skills:

EK 1 - is able to design his/her own career path

EK 2 - understands ethical issues related to the teaching profession

EK 3 - knows how to co-operate with other teachers and people from outside the school environment

Ek 4 - knows how to recognise situations of threats and addictions of students

Ek 5 - knows how to advise a student on his/her path of development

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

3.0 - Is able to characterize historical and philosophical sources of general pedagogy; presents ordered knowledge about anthropological and axiological sources of pedagogy; knows the relationship between pedagogy and other pedagogical disciplines.

3.5 - Presents the basics (philosophical, anthropological, axiological) of general pedagogy and ordered knowledge about upbringing and various educational environments.

4.0 - Can present a structured knowledge about upbringing, education and formation, and justify the importance of acquired knowledge in the process of self-improvement in the profession of pedagogue.

4.5 - Presents structured knowledge about the basics of upbringing, education and formation; can analyze the relationship between general pedagogy and other pedagogical disciplines, can prepare their own educational strategies.

5.0 - Can formulate a precise and coherent oral and written statement on the subject of selected pedagogical issues; is able to analyze and interpret educational problems; shows ordered knowledge about upbringing and various educational environments.
