Full description: |
During the course, student learns the research methods used in physical anthropology (human biology, craniometry, osteology), as well as information concerning anthropogenesis, human evolution. The main aim of lectures in biological anthropology is to provide background knowledge on phylogeny (hominid fossil evidence and their evolution) and ontogeny (biological development from conception into death). The basic knowledge for understanding of these processes includes comparative and functional anatomy, physiology, ecology, psychology and human ecology (adaptational changes to environment). |

Subject effects in the field of knowledge: Objective effect 1. The student understands and lists the basic biological phenomena and processes in the field of physical anthropology Subject effect 2. The student explains the terminology in the field of physical anthropology Objective effect 3. The student learns the methods and research instruments used in physical anthropology Subject effects in terms of skills: Objective effect 4. The student uses the techniques and research instruments used in physical anthropology during classes Subject effect 5. The student uses literature in the field of physical anthropology, both in Polish and English Subject effect 6. The student uses digital sources to acquire knowledge in a targeted manner Subject effect 7. The student participates in the discussion using scientific terminology Learning outcomes in terms of social competence: Subject effect 8. The student knows how to work in a group, adapting to perform various roles Subject effect 9. The student learns the issues related to the exercise of the profession Subject effect 10. Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Exercise grade: The final grade of the exercises depends on the average obtained in the colloquia: - Colloquium 1 - written. The test consists in describing anthropological points in the drawings. - Test 2 - practical. The colloquium is based on correct anthropological measurements. - Test 3 - practical. The colloquium consists in the correct assessment of bone materials. Colloquium scoring: 100-94% - 5 93-88% - 4.5 87-80& - 4 79-70% - 3.4 69-60% - 3 59 and less - 2 The student is obliged to fill in the workbook during the exercises, and also have the ability to search for and select appropriate sources (scientific articles and electronic sources, also in English). A student may have 2 unexcused absences (2x1.5h). Knowledge: for the grade 2 (failing): the student does not understand and does not list the basic biological phenomena and processes in the field of physical anthropology, does not explain the terminology used in classes, does not know the research methods and instruments used in physical anthropology for grade 3 (sufficient): the student at the basic level understands and lists the basic biological phenomena and processes in the field of physical anthropology, at the basic level explains the terminology used in classes, at the basic level learns the research methods and instruments used in physical anthropology for a grade of 4 (good): the student understands and lists the basic biological phenomena and processes in the field of physical anthropology at a good level, explains the terminology used in the classes at a good level, knows the research methods and instruments used in physical anthropology at a good level for the grade 5 (very good): the student understands and lists the basic biological phenomena and processes in the field of physical anthropology at a very good level, explains the terminology used in the classes at a very good level, knows the research methods and instruments used in physical anthropology at a very good level Skills Student: for the grade 2 (failing): does not use research techniques and instruments used in physical anthropology, does not use literature in the field of physical anthropology, is unable to express himself and use specialist terminology, is unable to control and implement lifelong learning activities for a grade of 3 (sufficient): uses research techniques and instruments used in physical anthropology at a sufficient level, uses literature in the field of physical anthropology at a sufficient level, both in Polish and English, at a sufficient level can express himself/herself using specialist terminology , at a sufficient level understands the need to plan and is able to implement lifelong learning for the grade 4 (good): uses research techniques and instruments used in physical anthropology at a good level, uses the literature in the field of physical anthropology at a good level, both in Polish and English, at a good level can express himself using specialized terminology , at a good level, understands the need to plan and is able to implement lifelong learning for the grade 5 (very good): uses research techniques and instruments used in physical anthropology at a very good level, uses literature in the field of physical anthropology at a very good level, both in Polish and English, can express himself at a very good level, using specialist terminology, understands the need for planning and is able to implement lifelong learning at a very good level Social competence Student: for grade 2 (fail): the student is not ready to critically assess knowledge, is able to apply knowledge in solving cognitive problems, is not ready to act in an entrepreneurial way and initiate events for the public interest, is not ready to see the need to improve his competences, identifying with the profession and solving problems related to it for the grade 3 (sufficient): a student at the basic level is ready to critically assess knowledge, is able to apply knowledge in solving cognitive problems, at the basic level is ready to act in an entrepreneurial way and initiate events for the public interest, at the basic level the student sees the need improving their competences, identifying with the profession and resolving problems related to it for a grade of 4 (good): a student at a good level is ready to critically assess knowledge, is able to apply knowledge in solving cognitive problems, at a good level is ready to act in an entrepreneurial way and initiate events for the public interest, at a good level the student sees the need to improve their competences, identify with the profession and solve problems related to it for the grade 5 (very good): the student at a very good level is ready to critically assess knowledge, is able to apply knowledge |
