The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the philosophical issue of pleasure both in the historical and systematic course. The lecture will include an overview of historical positions on the nature of pleasure, its functions in the psychological and moral life of a person, as well as an overview of the positions discussed today, especially within the Anglo-Saxon analytical philosophy and cognitive science. |

The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the philosophical issue of pleasure both in the historical and systematic course. The lecture will include an overview of historical positions on the nature of pleasure, its functions in the psychological and moral life of a human being. The histotic part of the lecture will concern, first of all, the ancient period, Plato in particular, as well as Aristotle and Epicurus. Additionally, the lecture will present an overview of the positions discussed today, especially within Anglo-Saxon analytical philosophy and cognitive science. Among the systematic issues, the following problems will be discussed: intentionality, motivation, pleasure as emotions, pleasure as beliefs and others. In addition, the lecture will also present the issue of pleasure in the social and cultural context. |

The graduate knows and understands the advanced ideas and arguments of selected philosophical authors and the methods of interpreting a philosophical text. In addition, knows and understands the subject and methodological specificity of philosophy as well as the basic research methods and argumentation strategies specific to the main philosophical sub-disciplines. Knows and understands how to use search tools focused on philosophical issues. A graduate is able to reconstruct and construct various types of arguments, referring to the basic normative premises of a given position, or to philosophical assumptions or cultural ideas. 4 ECTS: 30h - participation in the lecture 60h - independent reading of texts 30 h - preparation for the exam 120h 120h / 30h = 4 ECTS |
