Short description:

Effective leadership in the organisation

The high level of organisational effectiveness ensures the proper functioning of the enterprise and makes the company grow and gains an advantage among competitive organisations on the market.The lecture is an introduction to the issues of effective leadership in an organisation by analysing the issues of what it means to be a good leader, by emphasising the practical aspects of leadership. Areas such as: understanding leadership; recognition of leadership qualities; engaging people's strengths; understanding the philosophy and styles of leadership, dealing with tasks and relationships; developing leadership skills; creating a vision, including a strategic one; establishing a constructive climate; listening to group members, dealing with conflict; dealing with ethics in leadership and overcoming obstacles in the organisation.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

Students should demonstrate a good level of initial knowledge of leadership issues and be interested in this topic. It will also be important to be able to debate with the teacher about the theoretical foundations and practical applications of issues related to the role of leader in various modes of organisation. It will also be necessary to prepare competent Power Point presentations covering various aspects of leader behaviour in work situation.

Knowledge - the student lists and describes the main currents and research paradigms occurring in leadership psychology; identifies the most important issues related to leader functioning in various work environments correctly indicates the results of research justifying individual theoretical positions; knows and understands what is the analysis and interpretation of leader behaviour in the context of committed errors and violations, knows and understands the contemporary importance of the functioning of conteporay world

Skills - is able to interpret the texts of scientific empirical articles; knows how to search and select sources that will be used to enrich his knowledge and skills, the student is able to choose the appropriate techniques for testing and assessing the efficiency of psychological functions of operators and passengers of various modes of transport

Competences - strives for scientific and compliant methodology for collecting empirical data, maintains criticism of existing interpretations of phenomena that are not justified by empirical research, as well as is aware of the research restrictions existing in leadership psychology, related to the complexity of human functioning in various environments.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

1. Assessment of the semester exam

2. Assessment of activity during classes

Two absences per semester are allowed. Excessive absences must be made up in the form agreed with the teacher before the scheduled date of the semester exam. If you do not work out, you will not be allowed to take the exam. The semester test has a written form and contains open-ended questions that require solutions to problems. The condition of passing the exam is to obtain a minimum of 60% of points. The final grade is the grade from the semester exam, which can be increased by 0.5 or 1 grade if the student receives the appropriate number of points for activity during the classes.

Short description:

In order to implement the concept of leadership in an effective and worthwhile manner, the individuals need to acquire an understanding in terms of meaning and significance of leadership. When the leaders are performing their job duties or are working with other individuals, they need to inculcate the traits of morality and ethics and lead to goodwill and well-being. Furthermore, the leaders need to be well-aware in terms of measures and approaches to cope with changes and ensure that they prove to be efficacious, and useful to the members as well as the organisation as a whole. The main areas that are highlighted in this research paper are, leadership and management, functions of leadership, types of leadership, and roles of the leaders.
