Short description:

The inspiration for the content of the lecture is the thought of Gabriel Marcel about the need to "maturation in humanity". The lecture introduces the issues of development, transformation and shaping oneself in adulthood, in particular issues related to achieving personal and spiritual maturity. The wider theoretical reflection on a person concerns his social-moral development, personality, development towards values, development in relations, searching for sense and meaning. Thought from the area of cultural anthropology (Eliade) and the philosophy of dialogue (Marcel, Buber, Levinas) is helpful in this. Elements of the concept of Erikson, Loevinger, Kohlberg, Labouvie-Vief, Frankl, Allport, Straś-Romanowska, Kępiński, Dąbrowski and others are taken into account. The concept of character strengths and virtues by Peterson and Seligman (2004) is critically analyzed.
