  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The aim of the conservatory in Ethics of the Psychologist Profession is to discuss the ethical aspects of the functioning of a psychologist in various aspects of professional work. During the course, students will become aware of the possibility of various ethical dilemmas in their future work. These issues will be discussed during the course. These classes are aimed at sensitizing students to other people and working with them in the ethical aspect.

Assessment methods:

Based on attendance (one absence possible); oral test on the basis of the material discussed, active participation in classes.

Program content:

1. Professional identity of a psychologist. Presentation of the Code of Ethics and Professionalism of the Polish Psychiatric Association, the code of psychotherapist

2. Ethical problems of psychology - arguments for and against the existence of ethical codes. The ethical dimension of experimenting in psychology

3. Professional secrecy, in research and practical activities of psychologists

4. Therapeutic relationship - subjective and objective approach to man

5. Interpersonal training and humanization of social relations. Working with a group - ethical aspects

6.Child in psychological research

7. Hospital psychologist. Psychologist in court. Ethical dilemmas of a psychologist working in business

8. Psychological diagnosis - science and ethics in conducting psychological research, analysis and processing of results.

W1 the student learns about ethical issues and its characteristic moral concepts and categories,

W2 knows the main problems of the issues discussed and the corresponding concepts

U1 the student is able to collectively and individually analyze and interpret ethical issues, taking into account their psychological applications

K1 the student is able to discuss the chosen topic,

K2 is also able to draw appropriate conclusions and formulate an assessment of a given interpretation concerning moral issues

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Knowledge:

for the grade 2 (Ndst.): The student does not know the basic concepts of the ethics of the psychologist profession. The student cannot describe the difficulties and ethical dilemmas that a psychologist may encounter at work. The student does not know the code of ethics of the psychologist profession.

to grade 3 (dst.): The student knows the code of ethics of the profession, but does not understand it and the principles contained therein. It is fragmentary and unsystematic knowledge. The student cannot discuss the ethical problems of psychology. The student's verbal statements show significant gaps in this area.

to grade 4 (db.): The student is able to use the concepts of the ethics of the psychologist profession quite efficiently and in a way that proves quite a lot of knowledge. The student is able to describe the difficulties and ethical dilemmas that may be faced by people working in the profession of a psychologist. The student is able to name and accurately characterize the basic concepts of the ethics of the psychologist profession.

- to get 5 (very good): the student is able to use the concepts of the ethics of the psychologist profession in a very efficient and knowledgeable way. The student is able to describe the difficulties faced by people working in this profession, often undertakes his own reflection on the future work with people. The student shows the subjective treatment of another human being. He knows and is able to explain such concepts as: professional identity of a psychologist, professional secrecy, therapeutic relationship, diagnosis, he can discuss the methods of working with particular groups of people. The student is able to discuss, work in groups, argue and reflect.

Skills:

for the grade 2 (Ndst.): the student is not able to recognize the problems specific to the ethics of the psychologist profession. The student is not able to choose appropriate methods for solving specific ethical dilemmas. The student does not show a reflective attitude, he is unfamiliar with treating other people and helping others.

for the assessment of 3 (dst.): the student is able to recognize the problems specific to the ethics of the psychologist profession. It happens that the student knows how to choose methods appropriate to solve specific ethical dilemmas. The student sometimes shows a reflective attitude, treats people subjectively and usually shows a willingness to help them or at least a desire to redirect them to another specialist.

- to get 4 (good): the student is able to recognize the problems specific to the ethics of the psychologist's profession. The student is able to choose methods appropriate for solving specific ethical dilemmas. The student shows a reflective attitude, treats people subjectively and shows a willingness to help them or a desire to redirect them to another specialist.

for the grade 5 (very good): the student is able to recognize the problems specific to the ethics of the psychologist profession very efficiently. The student knows and is able to efficiently choose the methods appropriate to solve specific ethical dilemmas. The student shows a reflective attitude, treats people subjectively and shows a willingness to help them or a desire to redirect them to another specialist. In the professional and personal life, the student shows an attitude consistent with the work ethic of a psychologist. With his attitude, he tries to set an example to his younger and less experienced colleagues.

Competences:

to grade 2 (N / A): The student is not sensitive to other people's problems. The student shows a negative attitude towards resolving ethical dilemmas. The student does not participate in exercises and team work. The student is not present at the classes - he or she has more than 2 absences without the desire to explain the absences.

to grade 3 (dst.): The student is sensitive to other people's problems. The student shows a willingness to change to a more reflective attitude, shows a willingness to be interested in the problems of the ethics of the psychologist profession. The student sometimes participates in exercises and team work. The student has 2 absences, but is willing to explain his absences.

to grade 4 (db.): The student is sensitive to other people's problems. The student is willing to change into a more reflective attitude, notices the ethical dilemmas in the work of a psychologist. The student actively participates in exercises and team work.

to grade 5 (very good): The student is sensitive to other people's problems. The student is reflective, actively perceives and analyzes ethical dilemmas. The student actively participates in exercises and team work.
