Short description:	The aim of the course is to read and understand selected and previously prepared Latin texts as part of homework and to translate them into Polish. It also includes the ability to use editorial comments on the text. It is important to be able to use dictionaries of the Latin language. It is very important in this work on the Latin philosophical text to understand the philosophical message.
Full description:	The aim of the course is reading comprehension and discussing selected and previously prepared Latin texts as part of the homework and translation into Polish. It also includes the ability to read comments and lessons given by the text editor in the footnotes, and to use them when translating the text. The ability to use language dictionaries is also important. In the winter semester, the classes will be read (in whole or in selected fragments) of the philosophical texts of Apullius of Madaura and Augustine of Hippo. Apuleius: De deo Socratis; De Platone et eius dogmate, De mundo; Augustine: De beata vita. An important element of the exercises is the extraction of philosophical content from the texts read and translated. Additional literature (introduction, translator's comment) and a lecture on philosophy presented by the author of the text can help in understanding the philosophical message.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:	FK2_W01 He knows, at an advanced level, specialist terminology in the field of literary studies and related disciplines in the humanities. He understands key concepts and theories developed on their basis to an extent that allows for the integration of perspectives relevant to several scientific disciplines. FK2_U02 He is able to properly select methods, as well as independently construct research tools and apply them to solve complex and unusual cognitive problems in the field of philology. FK2_K01 Is ready to make a critical assessment, revision and correction of knowledge in terms of its adequacy in relation to the latest theoretical achievements in the field of literary studies and related humanities, taking into account current changes and socio-cultural phenomena. Student workload in the winter semester: 30 hours - participation in classes - 2 30 hours - preparation for classes 2
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	Students' work and preparation for classes will be assessed during classes, during their presentations, during which they will present prepared texts. The final grade consists of participants' activity during classes in the semester, preparation for classes, and regular participation in classes (in accordance with the study regulations). In addition, the preparation of additional material, in the form of presentations or speeches, is rewarded. A satisfactory grade is provided by ordinary, regular preparation for classes, participation in classes, the ability to read the text with an editorial commentary added to it in the footnotes. In order to get a good grade, you also need to be more active, and especially interested in the text and its philosophical message. For a very good grade, it is appropriate to demonstrate the ability to analyze the philosophical text in the context of the author's philosophy and spirituality (the teacher can help with this). You can also earn a good and very good grade by preparing and presenting a text of your choice (previously agreed with the teacher) during the classes.
