The lectures will deal with themes related to the phenomenon of Holocaust art and the reception of the Holocaust experience in the art after 1945 - based on examples from Poland, Europe, and Israel. Scope: Entartete Kunst, reaction to Nazism in German art, the art of the Holocaust - selected examples, the experience of the Holocaust in the art of selected artists - representatives of European countries and Israel. The iconography of the Holocaust. Problems of looting and restitution of works of art.

The lectures include film and photographic materials.

Lecture topics:

1. Nazism and art - Entartete Kunst, propaganda.

2. Ernst Barlach.

3. Conditions for creating art, attitudes towards reality - ghetto, concentration camp, life in hiding, participation in the partisans - selected artists, iconography (3-4 lectures).

4. Felix Nussbaum.

5. Holocaust iconography of the art after 1945 (Chagall, A. Bogen, J. Stern).

6. Problems of looting and restitution of works of art.

Ma uporządkowaną wiedzę szczegółową o sztuce Holokaustu i Holokauście w sztuce po 1945 roku. Zna terminologię i podstawowe aspekty badawcze.

The student has an orderly detailed knowledge of the Holocaust Art and Holocaust in art created after the 1945 year. And knows the relevant professional vocabulary and basic research methodology.

Ma podstawową wiedzę o wybranych zagadnieniach sztuki Holokaustu i Holokauście w sztuce i ich powiązaniach z naukami humanistycznymi.

He has a basic knowledge of selected issues of Holocaust art and its links with the humanities.

Potrafi stosować właściwą terminologię z zakresu sztuki Holokaustu.

HS1_U05

Potrafi wykorzystać terminologię dotyczącą sztuki Holokaustu w formułowaniu logicznej wypowiedzi w mowie i w piśmie w języku angielskim.

He/She can use appropriate terminology on Holocaust art and use it in the formulation of logical speech and writing in English.

Nakład pracy studenta:

30(15) godzin - udział w wykładach

60(30) godzin - przeczytanie artykułu w j. angoelskim i przygotowanie referatu wraz z ilustracjami.

Student workload:

30(15) hours - participation in lectures

60(30) hours - reading an article in English and preparing a presentation with illustrations.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE FULFILLED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE:

• course attendance – max 55 points / one absence is allowed, further absences „cost” minus 5 points each

• accomplish an one task – presentation on chosen articles (one presentation per one group including 2 persons)

• Term evaluation – max 100 points

• Attendance – max 30 points

• accomplishing the one task – max 70 point

• Scale of grades: 60 - 79 PKT - 3,0 / 80 -84 - 3,5 / 85 -94 - 4,0 / 95- 97- 4,5 / 98 - 100 - 5,0
