Level of the subject: advanced.

The aim of the subject is to acquire adequate knowledge:

1) As to the size and nature of threats to human life (with special regard to its origins), resulting in biotechnological and civilizational interference (legal and cultural);

2) What to justify the need to defend human life and its dignity.

It is also important to achieve the right level of skills and competences in undertaking (in a democratic and multicultural society) the defense of the life of the human person and his dignity. It is about the skill of actions that will be taken with regard to Christian anthropology, therefore - with particular reference to the creation of a sacramental marriage and a Catholic family.

Prerequisites: knowledge of Christian anthropology at the level of basic ethical concepts.

Course contents: The idea is that bioethics is a science which deals with its subject material is tampering with human life, made from the law, culture, civilization, human, etc. Today, in fact, it boils down to the interference of biotechnology. It is therefore important that the student has been introduced in the above issues, in the context of positives and risks of intervention. He has in mind here the normative aspect of the assessment, based on Catholic anthropology, which takes special protection, that is, as one of the highest values of the human family life.

1. Bioethics as a scientific discipline.

2. The internal nature of ethics in science.

3. What ethics in bioethics? - Competence teaching of the Church.

4. Democracy and the status of a "defenseless" (human embryo).

5. Evil ethical homicide.

6. Evil ethical suicide.

7. Abortion and its consequences.

8. Reproductive cloning.

9. Therapeutic cloning (stem cells).

10. New forms of abortion: postaborcyjny syndrome.

11. Genetic engineering: making dangerous experiments on human entity.

12. Vascularized organ transplantation "ex vivo" and "ex mortuo".

13. The transplantation of human death and the definition and methods of ascertaining (the issue of presumed consent), etc.

14. Assessment of artificial insemination women (the problem of prenatal and pre-implantation manipulation).

15. The application of the death penalty today (right to a fair and legitimate war of defense).

Knowledge:

EK_1 - Has an ordered knowledge of the principles and standards of bioethics, valid in marital, family and social life, with particular emphasis on reproductive health and protection of human life.

EK_2 - He knows the bioethical terminology used in family sciences and its application at the extended level, within related scientific disciplines.

Skills:

EK_3 - Has in-depth efficiency of observing, searching and processing of bioethical information (regarding family bioethics issues).

Social competence:

EK_4 - Has a conviction about the sense, value and need to take measures to protect marriage and family in a social, ecclesial and political environment;

EK_5 - Is ready to take on professional challenges; shows activity, undertakes hardship and is characterized by perseverance in the implementation of individual and team professional activities for the benefit of marriage and family;

EK_6 - Engages in cooperation with other entities in the defense of family and marriage rights.

ECTS: 2.

30 hours: participation in lectures - 1 ECTS

30 hours: preparation for the colloquium - 1 ECTS

Forms of examination:

1. Final test (oral): evaluation of the student's first and foremost in terms of knowledge.

2. The activity of the lectures (making discussions and ask questions to Professor); evaluation of the so-called. for continuous skills.

3. Writing an essay (for this purpose use e-learning platform); for evaluating the student's ethical sensitivity about the issues in question - competence.

Grading criteria for evaluation:

Rating 2. the student was not in lectures, did not write the essay; at the test showed a lack of adequate knowledge and expertise in the required range of issues of bioethics.

Grade 3: student attended classes at predetermined criteria; for the oral test showed to have a basic knowledge of terminology bioethical standards in their married life and family life; wrote at least one essay, in which he also demonstrated its ethical sensitivity in this area.

Grade 4: Students walk to class and was on their active (involved in the discussion of teaching); on the oral test showed to have adequate knowledge of the principles of bioethics on marriage and family life, he wrote at least two essays - demonstrating substantial knowledge, but also their ethical sensitivity to this issue.

Rating - 5: As above, but the execution at a very good (brilliant).

Criteria for assessment rates:

Oral test - 40% of the grade.

Involvement in the classroom - 30% of the grade.

Writing an essay correctly (substantive and formal) - 30% of the grade.
