2. Heat, first principle of thermodynamics. Ideal gas.

3. Enthalpy, Joule-Thomson experiment.

4. Entropy. Second law of thermodynamics.

5. Thermodynamic potentials. Maxwell equations.

6. Kinetic theory of gases.

7. Phase transitions. Van der Waals equation.

8. Statistical approach to thermodynamics.

9. Probability distribution vs entropy.

10. Statistical sum. Microcanonical ensemble. Extremalisation of entropy.

11. Canonical ensemble. Classical ideal gas in statistical description.

12. Grand canonical ensemble.Extremalisation of entro pii.

13. Quantum statistics. State occupancy for bosons and fermions.

14. Boson statistics: phonons, photons and condensates.

15. Fermion statistics: electron gas and its properties.
