Courses in registration (in Polish) Rejestracja na semestr letni 2019/20 – Instytut Ekologii i Bioetyki WF-OB-2019/20_L

The subject introduces the term - active protection of the species, presents ways of planning such a form of protection, and presents potential sources of funding. It presents the use of various methods in the field to actively protect animals on the example of colonial bird species, nesting on the Vistula islands. Shows the effectiveness of different techniques depending on the species and the type of threat. It teaches methods that may be useful for protecting species and habitats. The subject demonstrates the ethical and legal aspects of working with animals in the field; shows the hazards associated with a fieldwork and safety practices

At the turn of May and June (depending on the advancement of the breeding season, and the water level) a week-long trip in the area to the University Field Station in Wróble near Maciejowice (the island on the MiddleVistula River). There are 1-2 organizational meetings before the trip

The course allows to get acquainted with contemporary problems regarding the man and the environment, showing the glows and shadows of civilization development, including the anthropogenic impact on biodiversity. It acquainted with the characteristic fauna of selected urban and rural environments. The course teaches the various forms of communication and information exchanging.

(in Polish) Biochemia nauka badająca przemiany chemiczne i energetyczne procesów życiowych przebiegających w żywej komórce i mające znaczenie dla prawidłowego funkcjonowania wszystkich organizmów żywych. Zajmuje się nie tylko badaniem mechanizmu reakcji chemicznych zachodzących w komórce, ale także sposobami gromadzenia, magazynowani i użytkowania energii w procesach jej wymagających.

Zostaną omówione wszystkie substancje niezbędne do prawidłowego funkcjonowania organizmu np. białka czy kwasy nukleinowe. Omówiona zostanie funkcja i znaczenie różnych cząsteczek w przemianach biochemicznych mających zapewnić prawidłowe funkcjonowanie organizmu oraz przedstawione zostaną przykładowe, najistotniejsze szlaki metaboliczne z uwzględnieniem ich umiejscowienia w komórce.

Progress in medicine and biotechnology in 20th century made deep interference in the human life, especially at critical moments; further research show that influence on the evolution of humans will be possible.

This is reason of some question about possible borders of medical research and procedures. These questions and answers which are given by different thinkers are the subject of the lecture.

In the first part of the lecture some basic philosophical controversies are mentioned; the thesis given are the fundament of resolution of specific issues. In the second part exemplary solution of some question is showed as a model answer the present and future question

(in Polish) Różnorodność gatunkowa i obfitość występowania organizmów glebowych jest tak duża, że często jest porównywana z biologicznym bogactwem lasów tropikalnych. Ze środowiskiem glebowym, w różnym stopniu powiązani są przedstawiciele wszystkich królestw świata żywego, od grzybów i bakterii począwszy a na roślinach i zwierzętach kończąc. Wielokierunkowe, wzajemne powiązania organizmów, oraz ich udział w przemianach martwej materii organicznej warunkują prawidłowe funkcjonowanie ekosystemów lądowych. Celem wykładu jest zapoznanie studiujących z całym bogactwem życia gleby ze szczególnym wskazaniem na rolę organizmów w procesach mineralizacji i humifikacji.
